Prologue Act 2: For a Tomorrow Without Tears
After dealing with the Temples, the Traveler returns to Mondstadt and finds Jean talking to a masked woman, a Fatui diplomat, who suggests killing Stormterror to end the dragon problem. Jean dismisses her, explaining that Stormterror is actually Dvalin, one of the Four Winds. The Traveler shows Jean a mysterious gem found earlier, but Lisa can't study it due to its harmful energy. Jean then grants the Traveler the title of Honorary Knight.
The Traveler and Paimon track down a stranger, Venti, who sings a song revealing Dvalin’s torment. Venti realizes the Traveler’s powers can purify the gem and help Dvalin. He asks them to meet him at Windrise, where he explains Dvalin’s suffering and the Abyss Order’s manipulation. They plan to use a special instrument, the "Holy Lyre der Himmel," to help, but are denied access at the Cathedral.
Sneaking into the vault, the group is intercepted by a Fatui Electro Cicin Mage, who steals the lyre. Venti helps the group escape to Angel's Share, where they meet Diluc. After being questioned by him, Diluc agrees to help them.
The next night, Diluc brings Jean, who agrees to act unofficially to help save Dvalin. After learning from Diluc’s contacts, they retrieve the lyre from a Fatui stronghold. However, the lyre is damaged, and after collecting more Teardrop Crystals to restore it, they summon Dvalin at Starsnatch Cliff. An Abyss Mage intervenes, causing Dvalin to flee and the lyre to break.
